You should plan for the PDS experience early in your academic career since both semesters of your senior year are off campus. The academic requirements are often the same as the traditional program; however, you are encouraged to consult with a program advisor about any specific requirements for the PDS program. Application is made during your junior year. Notification will be sent prior to advanced registration as to your application status.
Requirements for participating in a PDS are the same as those for traditional student teaching. Teacher candidates must have at least a 2.5 Illinois State University cumulative GPA, and all course and teacher education requirements met.
