The Bloomington Public Schools, District #87 is located next door to Normal. This is a diverse school district with students from many countries speaking many languages. This provides a diverse experience close to the Illinois State University campus.

Early Childhood Education PDS is offered in seven elementary attendance centers. Middle Level Education PDS is offered in Bloomington Junior High School. Bloomington Junior High School is comprised of 1,338 students in grades six through eight. The building and organization promote and foster the concept of a community of learners working with a separate and distinct group of teachers. At the seventh and eighth grade levels students are arranged in five-teacher teams. At the sixth grade level students are arranged in two-teacher teams.
